Green Valley is the Place for Recreation with
13 Green Valley Recreation Centers.

Green Valley has a nonprofit organization serving the leisure and social needs of the adult retirement community, Green Valley Recreation, Inc. (GVR).  GVR owns and operates 13 recreational facilities valued at $14 million dispersed throughout Green Valley.  GVR provides many services and activities to a private membership base of over 10,500 households or an estimated 19,000 individuals.  Many volunteers assist a dedicated staff to help operate year-round programs for both the active and passive adult lifestyle.

GVR members enjoy many drop-in amenities such as fitness centers, basketball, billiards, Bocce, shuffleboard, horseshoes, tennis, swimming pools, spas and more all available year-round.  GVR also provides activities such as dances, special events, and concerts, which vary each month.  There are 125 special interest classes offered year and 58 special interest clubs.

To become a member of GVR, you must buy or rent a home that is "deed restricted" individually or as part of a subdivision to GVR within GVR's boundaries.  That means the property has a permanent deed restriction placed on it in perpetuity.  If you are a first time GVR member, at closing you will pay a one-time Capital Fee of $2,260.00 (As of January 1, 2010) dues per household not per individual member.  The annual GVR dues are $409.00 .   Therefore, each permanent resident of your household has GVR privileges and may receive a membership card.  Dues are subject to increase annually.

Another way to become a member is to purchase a home within GVR's boundaries that is not deed restricted and complete an agreement to voluntarily deed restrict the property to GVR.  This procedure requires an initial fee of $2,260.00 (in 2011).  This fee may also increase.

The majority of homes in Green Valley have a "deed restriction" on them for GVR.  However, there are areas in the community that do not.   For additional information on GVR membership, call the Membership Office at (520) 625-3440, x 217.

Tenants can also participate in GVR and can participate in all GVR activities, except voting or holding office on the Board or in any GVR club.  Regular members (members who own membership property) can assign membership privileges to tenants under a leasing agreement.    So the owners forfeit their privileges to the tenant during the term of the lease.  The tenant fees are separate and are paid by either the tenant or the owner during the term of the lease.  Listed below is the Tenant Fee Structure:

The 2011 Annual Guest Card may be purchased anually for a fee of $25.00 & may be renewed anually.

Guest of GVR are those whose principal place of residence is more than 20 miles from the point on GVR's boundaries which is closest to the guest's place of residence, to use all GVR facilities.  Guest cards are free and can be obtained at any GVR major center for up to 14 days.   Guest cards are available for guest 18 and older.   Those under 18 must be accompanied by an Adult GVR member at all times.
